Don’t forget to follow up!

People generally try to make as many LinkedIn connections as possible.  However, it’s important that you identify prospects that are your ideal target audience for your business.

But what’s in it for them?  People won’t connect unless there’s a good enough reason – do you tailor your message or send the default?  Give that prospect a reason to want to connect with you.

 

Let’s assume they have connected it’s important you continue communication.  If you don’t follow up with a prospect then why did you ask them to connect?  This is the ideal opportunity to start dialogue, offer to call them at a convenient time or meet for a coffee.  You’ll be surprised this does really work but it’s up to you to proactively manage your connections.
