International Women's Day 2023 - the view from one of our female members
Helen walked into a meeting and she was the only woman in a room full of 30-plus men! And as a young and inexperienced business woman back then, to say this was intimidating was an understatement!
None of the men came to talk to her and when she eventually did have some conversations, she felt patronised and out of place.
Luckily a month later, she met Will Kintish at a Prince's Trust event where he was teaching networking skills and he invited Helen to Manchester Business Breakfast Club as his guest and that was a completely different experience. As such, Helen has been a member ever since!
Thankfully, the world of business and networking has moved on massively (when she thinks about her first networking experience was a little unfortunate!) but it’s an important reminder to encourage and inspire young woman coming into the business world.
Helen says, "I am so proud to be part of this incredible group of business people and have such a strong female representation in the membership."
