Introduction to Youth Work training

 

The Greater Manchester Youth Network's Introduction to Youth Work training is back!  Greater Manchester Youth Network's Introduction to Youth Work (ItYW) is a six-session training programme that will develop your understanding and skills relating to youth work.

Each session provides an introduction to a different aspect of youth work including both theoretical and practical applications in a range of youth work settings. You are welcome to attend as many sessions as you choose.

All Sessions 10.30am – 1.30pm at GMYN
 
1. Introduction to Youth Work Values 12th March
 
Explore the different definitions of youth work and learn how you can embed the underpinning youth work values into your own practice.
While not compulsory, if you are interested in attending other sessions, we recommend that you start with this one, as it underpins other
sessions!
 
2. Conversations 19th March
 
Look at how you can build responsive relationships with young people, including identifying and managing boundaries.
 
3. Group Work Skills 26th March
 
Develop an understanding of how to work with groups of young people by examining practical tools and examples.

4. Understanding & Meeting Needs 2nd April
 
Explore youth workers’ roles as critical and responsive practitioners by understanding young people’s needs and knowing how to signpost to
further support.

5. Planning, Recording & Monitoring 9th April
 
Gain insight into the importance and relevance of planning, recording and monitoring youth work, gaining tools and methods of applying it
effectively.

6. Measuring Impact 23rd April
 
Explore what is meant by evaluation, relative practice and impact, using the example of the Most Significant Change model.
 
£45 per session or free* for Manchester volunteers.
